Asthma
Asthma is a chronic disease that basically consists of hyperactive
airway-in response to a variety of stimuli. During a wheezing attack it
is recommended to drink plenty of water to replace fluid lost in
increase perspiration and rapid breathing. Liquid also help losen sticky
mucus in the airways. Some asthma attacks can be life-threatening so
don't hesitate to seek professional help if you can't get an asthma
attack under control right away. German chamomile tea bags prepared 1
cup 2-3 times daily helps prevent attacks for mild cases of asthma. To
relieve nasal congestion and fever taking elderberry capsules is
recommended. Green tea, taken the same ways as chamomile, avoiding it an
hour within taking other oral medication, opens bronchial passages
because it contains theophyline. Ginger helps deactivate
platelet-activating factor (PAF) which promotes allergic reactions. To
relieve heavy congestion feelings in the chest take hyssop tea, same way
as chamomile. Licorice root, taken in 200-800mg capsules depending on
the severity of symptoms, increase s the effectiveness of steroid inhaler
by stimulating production to stop dry cough. Potassium is recommended
to be taken with this herb. On top of this exercise daily and eat a lot
of foods rich in amino acid. Watercress eaten in salad has been known to
help prevent allergy reactions and might help people with asthma.
Other herbs to keep in mind are; elecampane root (found in many asthma
medication), mullein, anise (found to loosen bronchial tightness), cocoa
to help open bronchial tubes, gingko reduces inflammation, parsley leaf
soothes cough, and tumrric anti-inflammatory. Please keep in mind
